As I'm efficiently packing for my year down under, I have to wonder...what are some of those guilty pleasures YOU KNOW you should leave behind, but can't quite bring yourself to do it...

I know i should really not be bringing nice body wash and conditioner on long trips. I know it! But used sparingly they really make you feel better. I mean washing off dirt grime with soap is all good. But scrubbing it off with jojoba and coconut milk body scrub and cleanser makes you feel sooo much nicer.
I always loose some space in my bag to that and i'm always a little angry and swear I'll just rough it with the tiny little shampoo bottles...but I never do.

Absolutely ditto, big time, what Prisa said!

And I usually end up with a small ziplock bag of "useless" stuff like a couple of bags of favorite tea, an old postcard or note that makes me grin, a little hand of Fatima I got in Morocco, some pertinent furtune cookie fortunes I've picked up along the way, maybe a tealight candle (those really little ones), silly stuff like a favorite marble or something. You get the idea...

does anyone else indulge themselves before they leave? like going to a salon to get your hair done, eating a really nice dinner with friends the night before you leave, going to the spa for a little body scrub and hitting up the sauna..

once i was carrying a really heavy tote on my right shoulder and i thought i was late for a flight. i was rushing around teh airport and then my whole upper right side started to ache and it just got worse and worse. i got to the gate 10 minutes before boarding but i saw one of those small massage things.. i thought 'screw it' and then sat down in one of those chairs for a 15 min massage - it was heavenly.

anyway, i can never ever leave behind my noxzema moisturizing face wash lol. that's about the only thing. Big Grin

I sometimes treat myself to a Brazilian before traveling.

a haircut prior to leaving is a must. Gotta look good for the beautiful ladies of the world. I mean... that IS why we travel isn't it?

I leave in six days and my beauty gluttony tour has been in full swing for about two weeks now... it will probably come to its ugly vain head this Friday when I get waxed...completely. Shaving is just too much of a hassle, and I'm bad at it. My hair was also high maintainence, so I shaved it off.

But my luxury I will be bringing are my three favorite books (all paperback so it won't be that heavy, pictures of my family and cat, and my manicure set. Frown I'm so ashamed of my girlyness...

Expensive shampoo weighs the same and takes up the same amount of space as cheap shampoo, right?
I've been known to travel with one of my favorite nice pillow cases from home. I hate having my face against a mysterious pillowcase. Call me squeamish.

Silly Rogerio I am all woman. But I am not afraid to admit that if I had a choice about what I would be in my next life, I would choose to be an extremely gay man. Flaming gay. Preferably in my early 30's living in New York City and having a high-paying business-type job which would allow me to travel the world on my common three-day weekends to exotic places to ram exotic men as a vacation from my multi-million dollar loft. And I would hope to be so shallow as to be content with all that, money, power, hot men....it'd be a great life.

Yeah I bring my own pillow too.

Ops, sisuphile.

I took it as a sign of maleness when you said you shaved your head. Just ain't the usual girly thing to do.

Girliness.

I like to take an MP3 player or minidisc player. Yeah, I know it's a waste of space and weight, but it's also priceless when you're stuck at the bus station for 6 hours...

It's okay, I know it's not that common but I've been told I'm even better looking without hair.

lmao ram exotic men.

so would you guys rather go out for nonstop partying with friends before you leave, or spoiling yourself rotten at the spa with a couple of good, close friends?

i'd do both. though i'm not sure in what order. Wink
