Haha...here all we will say is go...go go. I think that is what you want to hear.

If you have already planned all this then you have thought about travel for the longest time and really want to do this.

Is this job a dream job. Something you have been working towards and now have it when you really don;t want it. Or is the only thing good about it is the money. Other than that its pretty much the same job.

What's really holding you back?

I can't tell you to go, but I can tell you what I did...

A few years ago I did the same - quit my job, sold everything... and a number of things conspired to keep me home: job offers (don't they just rain when you don't need them??), relationships...

I knew if I didn't go then I never would. So kicking and screaming, I left. And I never looked back.

I thought I'd be gone six months and I was away three years. That was nine years ago and I still look back at the experience as THE best thing I ever did for myself.

The job thing? Everyone thought I was completely crazy - I had a great job, super salary, the envy of many friends. They told me I'd never find something like that again, that I was throwing my career away, that I could always go later... you've heard the arguments before.

Not only did I find a good job when I returned, I found a better one! Granted, it took a few months but - who cares? My time frame had changed on the road.

So I can't tell you what you should do - but I can tell you that I did it, and it was the right thing to do.

Yes go!!

It is true - it rains when it pours! This exact thing happened to me a few years ago and I was completely torn. Thankfully my mother had the sense to tell me to just get out and go. Also remember, those perfect jobs only look perfect from the outside. How irritated and mad would you be if you found out your office mate loved to talk about her mother in law or strange cat all day? You would wish you were on the road. Plus, everything happens for a reason and when you return your path will be different and new opportunities will arise.

Because you don't want to find yourself later having rerets... Think about this. On your dying bed, are you more likely to regret not having taken a job or not having realized your dream of seeing the world? YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE REGRETS...

You need to go because you CAN and because it's what you want to do... The fact that you quit your job, sold everything and made enough sacrifices to save that much money makes it very clear to me that it's what you really want. I think that happy people follow their heart, not their head...

FOLLOW YOUR HEART, GO AND BE HAPPY! Smile

I have found that sometimes people really respect someone who dares to put "real life" on hold to live their dreams and see the world. Employers are people too - and if you let them know the reason you're turning down the offer is to see the world, perhaps they will remember you and when you come back you can drop them a line and they will give you another shot.

The hardest decisions are the most rewarding. Have fun on your trip.

Well, I haven't gone on my RTW, and I am in the very early stages, so my trip won't be for a few years. BUT. I do know that if I was in you position (which i'm likely to be in, in a few years) I would (and will) GO FOR IT! Everyone here is right, if you don't go you will likely regret it. You may never have the money and this chance again. I hope you go for it. Because really there will always be another job to suck you back into the 9 to 5 when you get back. I hope this helps you!!! Let us know what you decide.....

I think the easiest way to answer this question is to throw cliches at you until one sticks.

It better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.

There's never a right time to check out of the daily grindstone. There's always another reason to stay.

I never met a man on his deathbed who said he'd wished he worked more and played/traveled less.

Have faith in yourself - you will land back on your feet. Think about the great explorers of our world, what if Columbus didn't set sail for lands anew choosing instead to stay home?
