I've gone and done it now. I think I just bought a plane ticket for LA -> Raratonga -> Auckland -> Christchurch. There's no turning back now. Come November, I am out of this country.

Can you tell I'm excited?

Yeah, the timing for my trip is working out really well. I'll have been at my job almost exactly 5 years (who doesn't like big round numbers?), the weather shouldn't be too bad in Oregon by then, but then I'll go straight on to great weather.

I'd say that I want the next few months to hurry along, but then I also want to be able to spend a lot of time with friend and family, and having a great summer.

On this routing, I want to to strongly suggest that you bite the bullet, score a $1000 ticket, and go to Manihiki in the northern Cook atolls. It is truly one of the most amazing places I have been (and I have been). I think a story I wrote will be up shortly on my trip there (true, Court?) Raro is fine for what it is, but the northern atolls are the Pacific as it was. Enjoy your trip!

I checked prices over at Air Rarotonga, and it is about $1000 as you say. I was already planning on going out to Aitutaki, as I have a friend I can probably stay with out there. I don't think I can afford to spend that much money on a flight out there. Thanks for the suggestion though, it looks like a lovely spot.
