We all know the scene;

You have a WHOLE lot of time to kill. Be you skint, low on cash, waiting for a plane, waiting for god, fancy a change. Get the picture?

Well games are usually the highest order of the day. So I was wondering.... when your sat in LAX enjoying the utter monotony of a 9 hour connection with a mate or sat at home in your hostel lounge/rented lounge, have you devised any games that the rest of us can give a go and enjoy?

So far there's been the million variations of shithead (obviously - oh and Arsehole to the Americans n' Canadians), Coconut Challenge, Vodka Beyblade, Jaws, Breadfruit Cricket (with an old palm), Flipping frogs (AU$4 from 7/11) and good ole trusty beach volleyball (personal fave).

It'll be good to know and give some a go.
Everyone loves games, so lets play more!

Ta

My favorite thing is just plain people watching...perhaps making up funny stories about who they are, a la "Wonder
Boys". I imagine one could add alcohol to the mix (i.e. whenever someone passes by with luggage on wheels, drink; whenever someone yells at an airport employee, drink...)

I knew I could trust you to come up with something Delara - I was beginning to get worried about the Validity of the thread. You know, like maybe most people travel in 2's so they have someone to talk too.

I often find myself approaching complete strangers with a mad look of glee on my face and a handful of flippin' frogs offering free entertainment....

Guess we're the only thrill seekers to be found in airport lounges ;D

Sit long enough in the lounge and someone is bound to be interesting enough to chat up. I find the smoker's lounges are the most fun...people on airplanes for hours and hours chain smoking their lungs off.

Funny you mention smoking lounges as im compiling a photo-record of every lounge ive been in. I have to say, Auckland is without a doubt the worst, and the best.... remains to be seen.

But your right, you meet some characters in smoking lounges. On my LON-LA flight I hooked up with two welsh Jugglers who were staying in the same hostel as I. Antic's ensued, but with a healthy dose of Volleyball and circus tricks on Hermosa beach..... nice... Big Grin

Perhaps that's a thread we should start: Airports and their ammeneties (or lack thereof). I was in an airport in Pennsylvania (it's 7:45 in the morning and I've been working for 2 hrs, forgive me for not remembering the exact city) which had a "smoking lounge"...in quotes because it was a glass cube with no ventilation attached to a hallway. You could barely see inside from the terminal it was so smokey.

Impressed by the Welsh circus volleyballers. Can't top that.

Gripes about airports.

LAX
Without a doubt is the most soul destroying place on earth. Your supposed to be excited by leaving but after 5 hours encased in untreated concrete with the beautiful Cali sun outside is enough to make you want to slash your wrists.

Dont get me started on the leather-lite(tm) chairs heheh

Greatest character I met travelling... new thread time methinks Big Grin
