I am leaving for an 8 month RTW trip in Dec 2002, and I have gotten so pumped about it that I have begun to research in full force. Basically, I'm wondering what books are good guides for RTW preparation (or is it better not to use a prep guide at all???). I have heard mixed things about The Practical Nomad. Does anyone have anything else that they used that they found to be beneficial? Please let me know.

Also, does anyone know the costs of the Star Alliance Round the World tickets for the various mileage distances?
