I just found out about a killer opportunity to go to India in about two months. I'm seriously considering the fact that this just might be the excuse I need to quit my job, throw it all over and start the international, open-ended world journey I've always dreamed about. I've done lots of little international travels and one two-year stint in Spain, but I'm thinking really big this time. Anyone have some quick feedback on this potential itinerary, both as it relates to weather and otherwise? It's really rough b/c I've only started conceptualizing:

December-Feb/March or so -- India, especially the North. Nepal too.
Spring -- SE Asia all over the place (anyone have some favorite surf spots?)
Summer (i.e. winter) work in Australia tending bar or something, hang out, surf...
Fall -- Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Eastern Europe, perhaps Sweden if I can squeeze it in (I have folks to stay with and visit)
Winter -- Work in Ireland or England (I have an Irish passport so it's not an issue). Meet promoters who throw parties on Ibiza. Try to hook up firedancing work. HeHe
Spring -- North of Spain, perhaps Camino de Santiago, visit friends in Barcelona
Summer -- Ibiza! Or if that doesn't work out, who the heck knows, someplace warm
After that -- South and Central America

then back to my favorite spot, wherever that was, or to an entirely new spot, new country, new life...ahh, the way to live!

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yeah!! Give it a try! All you need is a start and a positive attitude, it seems to be something you want, so go for it, follow your dreams, life has a tendancy to work out just fine if you believe it will.

Sounds good to me also, Pheonix. I am in Czech right now and it is starting to get a little chilly so I am going to head to the Mediterranean for a month or two. It beats buying a jacket. I've heard India is best to travel (weather-wise) from November to February, so like yourself I will head there around that time. Early spring is the best time to visit SE Asia, as it is usually dry from Nov-Feb, and starts heating up around March and is good until June, when the monsoons might start.
Unfortunately have to head back home after that...
You want to spend the winter in Auz?

Good luck

I am leaving Boston and intending on doing something similar- I think I am going to spend the winter on Sicily trying to forget the Boston winter

Then as the weather gets warmer and the days longer start making way way north up through Italy and France.
