I was just reading the terms and conditions page for the Oneworld explorer and I came across this:
For tickets issued before or on 31 May 2008, a maximum of 20 flight and surface segments are permitted for the entire journey. For tickets issued on or after 1 June 2008, a maximum of 16 flight and surface segments will be permitted for the entire journey. since I've been planning to buy one of these tickets soon with 20 segments I guess this means I need to buy it sooner (as in ASAP) rather than later! I wanted to post this in case anyone else here was planning on purchasing one of these fares in the near future. |

Adam, you the man. We were lining out our OneWorld virtual itinerary for our RTW starting in October on Saturday night (yes, our wild and crazy Saturday night...) and looking at that option (along with Air Treks, which seemed to spit out an outrageous price) to see if we're going to go with a RTW ticket or just buy as we go (the age-old debate). I'm sure that we would not have gotten around to booking with OneWorld by the end of the month if that's the way we choose to go, so now I have some motivation.
Thank you for the heads up! Did you book it yet? |

Thanks for the post.
I have a question regarding the RTW flights. I was talking with a travel consultant from AirTreks which I am seeking different vendors for the best price. My trip is not until Nov '08 but apparently (at least for AirTreks)RTW tickets are good for a full 1 (which I knew) but it was surprising to find out its good for a full year from the time of purchase and not departure date. Does this limitation also apply for OneWorld tickets as well? I hate to buy a ticket sooner with that limitation than compare to waiting a few more months? Any advice. |

The new 16 sector limit will come into effect for all rtw tickets (any of the ones that allowed 16+ sectors of course) due to new eticketing rules due to come into effect.
Essentially a max of 16 sectors can be issued on an eticket hence the rule change. I did post about this a couple of weeks ago in another thread to give you guys the heads up... |

the oneworld explorer is valid for 12 months of travel, from the date of departure. |
