Hi, I just bought some plane tickets through justfares.com and they emailed me only e-ticket numbers saying that I just have to present myself at the airlines' check-in desks with the numbers. Is that right? Shouldn't I be able to access my itinerary through a code and print my ticket online? How can I just go to Johannesburg with a number? I am really confused and I would appreciate any experts' comments. Thanks!

If I understand what you are saying, justfares.com will send your booking to your airline...when you arrive the airline will know you are coming and all you do is present your passport. I have never been asked for my e-ticket booking, just my passport and they bring the rest of it up on the computer...To be safe bring the numbers with you and you should be all set. E-tickets are great because you can't lose the tickets in hustle, bustle and shuffle of traveling!

India, UAE, Africa next, follow me! I'm 24, why isn't 100 countries and 7 continents realistic in a lifetime...40 and 5 down...

Don't worry. If they gave you a record finder number, you can double-check with the airline itself (and perhaps change your seats).

Thank you! Very useful (and they also came later with an explanation they should have given before).

E-tickets are great! I can't lose them.

Back at the end of 2001, when I was coming home from Germany, there was a bit of a hassle on United because the airline ticket counter in Frankfurt wanted me to show them my physical ticket. I didn't have one. It was an e-ticket so I had to trek down to another counter and someone had to print something out. Big big time wasting hassle. But of course everyone was a bit nervous after 9/11.

So two weeks later I was scheduled to go to Singapore and I had never been there. So I thought, hmmm, I'd better get a real physical ticket because of what happened in Germany. So, I got my real ticket and flew to Singapore.

When I arrived at the airport to go home, I showed the woman at the ticket counter my ticket. She was really surprised and told me she never saw them anymore. She was actually calling over to her co-workers to come over to see someone with a physical ticket.

So I no longer ever get a physical ticket unless someone makes me.
