I was in the Hong Kong airport waiting to leave, and even though I have gazillions of books and would probably be too tired on my flight back to L.A. to read (I usually can't read on planes), I picked up "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell and almost finshed it on the plane.

He wrote a first one called The Tipping Point, which I didn't get because it looked pretty elementary to me. Stuff that I already know that I don't need long winded explanations for. (I only like long-winded explanations when I am giving them, *ahem*)...so anyway- this book illustrates how the brain processes information.

There is a chapter called Kenna's dilemna. I had never heard of Kenna. So I found him online at http://www.kennaonline.com

There, just being at the site, they play his music...all instrumentals. (I guess, since I've been listening for a long while and there's no singing.)

The music is hard to describe, but it's synthesizer with hard drum. It's kind of rockin like I don't know like who, I'm bad at music stuff when it comes to talking about it.

Has anyone ever heard this? It's great! In my opinion. His pictures don't come up right away, but I clicked around a little and found that he's a black man in to David Bowie.

The chapter on him was about how well the industry people liked him, and how well he tested in different market tests, but then when push came to shove, people for some reason didn't buy it. They didn't know how to categorize him.

The book is OK. It explains things on about the level that Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus does, so it's an easy quick read. I'd recommend it because it's fast, so not a huge waste of time, and there are some interesting tidbits inside.

So, Kenna, anyone??

I couldn't find what you were talking about for the life of me.

Then I found it.

I love his singing. But I'm a huge duran duran fan. So you must consider that.

So I also clicked on referrals, and there is a list of bands that have influenced him and links to their sites and guess what?? Duran is there with a link to my other site that I go to now and again.

Now I hope that doesn't scare anyone. His music is good. He also likes U2 and David Bowie. So if you don't like dd, still check it out.
