Gotta Love the GB

I know a lot of people here are fans of Jen Leo's stuff - and I'm really interested in going to her book signing in PDX, if for no other reason than to meet a cool woman who is making a life out of travel writing - but should I buy 3 of her books right now??

I was just going to buy The Thong Also Rises. And then I was like, well, might as well buy the other one. Didn't realize there were TWO others (Sand in My Bra and Whose Panties are These??). Is her writing the kind where by sheer fact of being a female traveler I'll get a kick out of these? Or is she "good but not for everyone"? I only ask because I get free shipping if I buy all 3, which is handy, but not if I'm not going to love the books.

Insight appreciated Smile

Hey Tracy-

All three books you mentioned are collections of stories instead of being written entirely by Jen. It's all crazy stories from crazy females. I went to the reading down here, and you'd probably be better off starting with just one of the books to see how muc you'll like it.

Very nice and fun lady. I personally think they should turn it into an audiobook, because the stories have soooo much more personality when being read by the writers.

Some of the stories in them aren't that good, but there's some funny stuff. (My fave is the woman with the droopy drawers who looses her panties in the Middle East.)

As a librarian, I must encourage everyone to use their local libraries. All books needn't be bought (unless you want to get it signed!). I usually check books out of the library if I don't know much about them, and if I really like them, I buy them.

Cherie,
My local library has been my lifesaver.

Unfortunately, they don't currently have many Traveler's Tales books, so those are the ones I usually buy. I agree that not all the tales are the best, but I have been dying to go to "Burning Man" ever since I read "Sand in My Bra." Here's hoping that "The Thong Also Rises" ends up in my holiday stocking.
