And it makes me feel very dirty.

Err, but I'm a beginning hippy, so it's just a Grateful Dead kinda thing right now. No String Cheese Incident, etc.

Ok, how do I make it stop? I don't wanna start going to see all the jam bands and getting stoned in parking lots. How can I break this before it starts!

I had two years of medical school. I suggest immediately changing your medication from barbituates and alcohol to Xanax. Eek

Chris, as long as you don't purchase any bongo drums (whatever they're called), you'll be fine. ;-)

Lynn,

Are you talking about the...Djembe? I think that's what it's called.

Oh gawd, this is rather embarrasing. When I lived in Augusta Ga and had no direction, I got suckered into joining, of all things, a drum circle!

Don't get me wrong, I love percussion, and playing one. Those things are a blast to play. I just started getting concered when these women with the dazed and confused look in their eyes got up and started doing this bizarre dance. Then I realized I was the only person present that wasn't on any mind altering substance.

Cracking Up Cracking Up Cracking Up

Chris- ha ha ha. That is so funny! And it's called a djembe..cool. I've learned a new scrabble word. ;-) (although the likelihood of me getting a j, m, and b is not likely)

It just reminds me of the quad at my college - there was always a group of djembe players (tee hee), and juggling, and hacky-sack kicking, and lighting up, etc..and at night, it turned into a fencing club. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)

Oh and Chris..there are about a zillion Phish live albums out there now..you may want to take a couple weeks off to listen to those. Kidding. You know I love that Grateful Dead song you put on my cd! ;-) And I own some Phish.

Holy shit Nick!

Damn, the mention of Minor Threat made me have flashbacks to the glories of punk rock, haha.

I can't believe Nike is using that. I doubt they could afford to, but man, if there was ever a case for a lawsuit, this would be it. I just wonder if there is any copyright proteciton for something like that.

Fucking sick maaaan!

I was a hippie in high school....didn't comb my hair or wear makeup, or bathe sometimes. Hung out in parks.

but then I met punks and realized I needed to join my own generation, til I realized punk wasn't new, either. What out there is original?

Forgot about Minor Threat....thanks for reminding me what to dredge from the past.

Bongo Drums are the best.
Yeah, i like my hippyish music too. Nothing better than Hendrix while chilling, if you know what i mean.
The G dead are cool too, a bit of Janis Joplin, The Doors and Pink Floyd help me chill.

Punks are pissed-off hippies. They're hippies with a backbone.

Do you remember when Tonka used Iggy Pop's 'Real Wild Child' for a goddamn toy truck commercial? Or how about Ronnie using 'Born In The USA' for his campaign theme? 'Born down in a dead man's town. The first hit I took was when I hit the ground.' Yup, sure sound like the America I want to vote for.

Hippy music=music that, if you are outside a venue where a hippy band is playing, you will be surrounded by hippies Razz

I mean, like any other genre of music it has it's gray areas, but I think that's the best way to describe it.

But specifically, I was talking aboot the grateful dead.

Ohter hippy stuff...Phish, String Cheese Incident, mostly jam bands.

85% of Oregon gigs!! Haha!! too true.

My favorite unabashadly hippy album ever is Allman Brothers - "Live at the Filmore East."

With 20 minute improvised jams and classic version of their best songs, you can practically smell the grass through your headphones.
