Holds PhD in Packing

I oftentimes dislike travel writing but have encountered some authors worth noting.

I noticed a lot of similiaties in the way William Langewiesche and myself write. We share the same kind of style, so I like him and can relate to him.

Same goes with Paul Theroux although I share less in common with him writing wise, his personality reminds me of myself.

Is that wrong, to like writers that remind you, in some ways, of yourself?

Has anyone read either or these authors?

What American travel writers do you like? Why?

Why would it be wrong to like someone that helps you with your own voice?

I don't have travel writers that I like, I pretty much don't like travel writing. I tolerate it because I love the subjects.

But even though I'm not a writer, I would have to say that Earnest Hemmingway and I write exactly the same way. People assume that I steal from him, and not the other way around, but I have never read a single Hemmingway book, so how could that be possible? It's not.

I only like to read. I hate writing, because I hate doing things that are hard, or in any way challenging and I hate people that write good stories. I also hate people that write bad stories.

Jack Keruac and Hemingway. I am a beatnik at heart. I also enjoy Bill Bryson and find myself laughing aloud when reading him

Jedi, that makes even less sense than usual.

Martha Gelhorn....Bryson..... Theroux, even though he´s sort of an ass. Are there others out there that are consistent? I tend to shy away from the ubiquitous writers who tell funny stories about bra shopping in a foriegn country or trying to launder their panties, so I don´t count them in the "consistent" list.

I'll read just about everyone except Peter Greenberg - The Travel Detective. What an idiot! He's so completely full of himself. His books are nothing but bragging about all the t.v. shows he's been on and famous people he's met. So pathetic.
