That Gnarls Barkley track IS hot. There's been a lot of really great collabs in the underground hip-hop scene recently... Danger Mouse, MF Doom, Madlib, Jay Dee...

I've been on an El-P Oxtrumentals (tracks from Cannibal Ox's Cold Vein) kick for a bit.

Smooth Jazz 103.9 update: they just had a commercial break for the Lion King. A gospel chorus singing Elton John's "Circle of Life". It's now stuck in my head.

God is a cruel God.

At first, I was thinking...I don't know about these guys. But it is official. I have a fondness for The Gossip.

Thanks for those, Mina. I had missed Fiona! Glad that she is back with something just as interesting as her 'When the Pawn' album. Extraordinary Machine shines with that crazy skinny neurotic girl charm...does grow on ya!

As much as I love love the Gnarls 'Crazy', I have found the other songs to be disappointing. Here's hoping that Cee-lo and Dangermouse keep going with what really works.

Yay, mp3s!

I know little to nothing about f.apple and am rarely exposed to girl rock (can I call it that??) in general but usually like it when I am. hahaha @ "The Gossip" being from Olympia, WA, which is exactly why it sounds good and familiar to me; my close friend feeds me music from there, I was thinking about her when I was listening. I like that sound.

But right now.... Sly and the Family Stone - If you Want me to Stay

Mina you have great taste. Thanks for these! I've been listening to them at work, really like your selections. Smooth jazz coworker has been out this week, so I've had a break on that stuff.

I've gotten hooked on "Feel Good Inc.", by Gorillaz. I think it was produced by DJ Dangermouse though. How would I go about uploading that track? I know you said you're using your server space, is there some other way to upload a track?

Feel Good Inc. There ya go. Without your own server space or linking to someone else's, I dunno how you'd go about uploading tracks.

Re: Sly Stone, I didn't catch 'em, but I heard things did not go too well for him at the Grammy's...

check out http://yousendit.com - very simple way to upload and share any kind of unwieldy file, up to 1G.

Just put yourself as the recipient and when you post the link to the file publicly, leave off the http:// part because if they get too many direct requests for a link, it will kill the file. Otherwise, it stays up for like 10 days or 20 days, I fergit. Takes a minute to upload, just be patient, they give you a link right then "for your reference" so you dont have to check your email even. I know christina got some good stuff too!!

nerrokerr, what happened at the Grammys w/Sly Stone?! I must know! Dont make me download the whole show lol (still no luck w/soulseek btw) thx for the Feel Good link~

crackerJ, anthony hamilton is the man, one of my fave new school rnb guys; your post sent me to see if I had the same track, I do not, but instead I am listening to

Love and War - Anthony Hamilton feat. Macy Gray

Like I said, I didn't see the Grammy's, but afterwards I had this conversation with like 7 different people. But, from what I hear is that Sly came out to perform as part of a tribute to Sly and the Family Stone, but just looked strung out to shit and left the stage halfway through "I Want to Take You Higher", after forgetting words. He disappeared for 13 years, and this was the first time anyone'd seen him, and it all went to shit.

The other members of the tribute band included Tyler and Perry from Aerosmith, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph, Will.I.Am from BEP, Van Hunt and Maroon5.

It's a shame.

They've been mentioned on the boards before, but Liz G just turned me on to Manu Chao while hanging with her in NYC last weekend.

Me Gustas Tu, and Mr. Bobby

Ok, I'm giving this a go as per Mina's suggestion

Give Sénégal Fast Food a listen. By Amadou & Mariam (Mali singers), produced by Manu Chao. Nerokerr, I love Manu Chao. Hadn't heard these tracks before. Nice.
