I don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone seen Baraka? I recently saw it and thought it was the most amazing movie I've seen.

OH! I was going to post about this once.

I got Koyannisqatsi.
And I just ordered it because of the review.

Strangley fascinating.
Then I got Baraka, and I was like "hey..."

Because I didn't bother to read the cover. Same dude.

Anyway, Baraka is cool. I was going to watch it again last night and got sidetracked.

But... I like Koyannisqatsi better.
It's more affecting in my opinion. But really they are both different and enjoyable for different reasons.

I had it shown in a class my sophomore year of high school, really liked it then. A couple years ago I saw it in an anthropology course, and really liked it again. Very cool film.

jedi, if you like Koyannisqatsi then check out the other films in the 'qatsi' saga: Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi.

Does anyone know who the men are in long white gowns and tall hats spinning around? I assume it's a religious ceremony of some sort. They were also shown towards the beginning of the film with the Wailing Wall scenes.

I'm watching this right now, so I'm bumping the thread, and to answer the earlier question, I did find a thread where people are lavishing praise.

Baraka praise and comments

The best shot is the opening showing the monkey. More monkey face movies would be nice.
