I went to Ibiza for the amazing music scene;
The Street Parade in Zurich for the music; Carnaval (Salvador) for the axe and other kinds of music. Anyone else? |

Do theoretical trips count?
I want to visit the west coast of Africa sometime just for the music: Mali + Senegal. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + "It was the most efficient campaign I have seen in my 20 years in politics." -- Sam Burrell, alderman of Chicago's West Side 29th Ward, on the phenomeal Project Vote! voter drive of 1992 which was responsible for adding 150,000 black voters to the Chicago rolls. This helped Bill Clinton and Carol Mosley Braun win Illinois in the '92 elections. The project was spearheaded by an unknown 31-year-old lawyer and community organizer by the name of Barack Obama. http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/January-1993/Vote-of-Confidence/ http://www.brklyn-christina.blogspot.com |

I went to New Orleans, to pay a tribute to the place where it all started.
For music and dance, I'm going to Oruro, Bolivia in January- it's the place of one of the greatest carnevals in South America. __________________________ gdzie mnie wiatr poniesie |

One of the reasons I went to Prague in the 'nineties was because of Dvorak and Smetana, and in those days you could see a concert with the Czech Phil performing these composers cheaply enough, and visit their graves at the Vyshehrad cemetery. But I also went to Prague because Kafka lived there, as did Milan Kundera, Josef Skvorecky, Bohumil Hrabal and other Czech writers who portrayed it so vividly in their work (though neither M.K nor J.Sk. were born there).
By the way, the idea that every Bohemian is a musician was proved by the piano-playing parties I used to go to in Prague... |

I recently visited Woodstock, NY. A friend of mine works for a radio station up there. I believe the amazing music scene in this town goes without saying. The next town over, Saugertees, is the site of Woodstock '94.
For all you Band fans out there, I made sure to visit Big Pink, and I later went to Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble. For those not in the know, Helm was the drummer for The Band, and each Saturday night he hosts a concert in his house (yes, you read that right...in his house). During my time there, I also saw New Riders of the Purple Sage...amazing show. My trip to Woodstock inspired my next adventure, where I look to travel to every city that's important to the history of rock 'n roll. I will be in Chicago in a few weeks and hope to do up some good blues. And I'm also planning a trip the Home of Grunge, Seattle & Kurt Cobain's hometown of Aberdeen. This adventure will last me a good portion of my life, and I look forward to every step of the way! |

Scotland for the Ceilidhs (traditional scottish dances), the music is just so inspiring, especially after a few pints, and you can make up the dancing as you go along. Great for picking up girls. Really want to visit Cape Breton, Canada as apparently the Celtic music scene is at its peak there.

Volunteering in Calcutta in 2003 we heard about the Rolling Stones were doing a gig in Mumbai. Me and a group of other Calcutta volunteer tooks the 25 hours plus train ride to Mumbai to hear the Stones. We bought one of the more expensive tickets which I believe were 12 euro's. The concert was great and adventures were had by all.

Having A-ha as my all time favorite band, and their lead singer, Morten Harket mentioning about how beautiful Norway is, made me want to go to Norway. I loved their music, and wanted to see where they came from to create such beautiful songs.
It was worth it. Nic Attitudes are contagious, mine might kill you.--Despair.com |
