I have heard mixed reviews about Paul Theroux and his latest book Dark Star Safari. I am really into Africa non-fiction, so I imagine I will read it in the next few weeks. Mr. Theroux is coming to my hometown in three weeks to read from his latest book. BUT, is it worth the $12.50 to listen and meet him?

Dark Star is actually a good book - I enjoyed it anyway. I was pleasantly suprised by it. I would be more than happy to pay you U$12.50 to go and hear him on the condition you give him a smack for his Old Patagonian Express book - which is shockingly bad....

cheers

Philip

I haven't read Dark Star Safari yet but what the hell is wrong with Old Patagonian Express? I loved that book!

Isn't he doing a reading or a signing in town somewhere? I met him when he was touting Dark Star Safari last year. It was cool. And no charge.
