I just saw this movie last night and have to say it is pretty damn incredible. I was not previously familiar with Frank Miller's comic so going into it I had no expectations or concerns on whether or not it stayed true to the comic. After seeing it I can say it a great adaptation from a comic book. I have since checked out the stories online... there aren't a lot of them.

And to tie this into travel. I can honestly say I don't think I would visit Sin City during my travels if it were a real place.

It took a while to get into the stilted dialogue, I thought. At first, I thought it was a joke and things would revert to something normal. Then it was like someone pounding on piano keys.....then I got into it. Pretty good film, all in all. And fun. The funny lines just sort of snuck up on you. Went to the comic store next door immediately after, and saw that they kept the film pretty close to the books.

Elijah Wood cracked me up. He sure wasn't going to TRAVEL very far at the end there, was he?

Just got back from seeing Sin City...I liked it alot, too. I liked the use of color, and the drawn or painted backgrounds.

Very visually arresting, modern film noir, but definitely not for everyone.

The vignette with Clive Owen was my favorite.

OK, ready for 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon?

Roberto Rodriguez lost his Director's Guild membership making this film, because he insisted that the comic's creator Frank Miller directed some parts of the movie. Gutsy.
Frank Miller also wrote a few movie scripts, including Robocop 2 in which he played a drug-manufacturing scientist.
Together with Geoff Darrow, Frank Miller did two other comic projects, 'Big Guy & Rusty the Boy Robot' which we worked on at Sony as a cartoon. And 'Hard Boiled'.
Geoff Darrow was the chief designer for the Matrix films because the Wachowski Brothers liked his artwork so much.
The Wachowski Brothers are about to make 'V for Vendetta' based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, the greatest living comic writer.
Alan Moore wrote 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' and also 'From Hell', which was turned into the Johnny Depp movie, with Australian artist Eddie Campbell.
I lived next door to Eddie Campbell in Brisbane for a few years and we'd talk comics in his back yard over a few beers.
I've also started drawing comics and want to be where these guys are already! Hahahha. There you go.

Good news Kevin Bacon fans....I can get you there. A couple of times

One of the first things I ever worked on was Unforgiven....Clint Eastwood went on to direct Kevin in Mystic Piz---uh River.

Worked with Michael Rooker (6th Day). Rooker starred with Kevin Bacon in JFK

Worked with Queen Latifah (Scary Movie 3). Queen Latifah has Kevin Bacon in her new movie

Worked with Sean Astin (tv show called Jeremiah). Sean Astin worked with Kevin Bacon in White Water Summer

Worked with Billy Baldwin(now there was a crap movie. Oh. Brotherhood of Murder) Billy worked with Kevin in Flatliners

Brad Dourif on Millennium Dourif and Bacon in Murder in the First

Clint Howard in House of the Dead(now THERE WAS A CRAP MOVIE!) Clint and Kevin in My Dog Skip

That should be enough.

I'm one away. That puts everyone who's ever typed anything to me at two away.

Hooray! Yippee! Streamers and Confetti!

......or not, I guess.

Saw Sin City...amazing. Saw it again the other night. For those of you haven't read the comic book, or don't intend to, this comparison website should help give you a better idea of just how close the movie was to the original.
