Lost in Place |
Hey there -
I'm leaving in 28 days (!!!) to go back to China. Maybe for a few months, maybe longer if I can find a cozy job. Have any reccomendations for any films (or books for that matter)- documentary or otherwise, I ought to check out? Really I'm just getting excited about it all... I've seen Farewell my Concubine, and of course a healthy slew of martial arts films...It seems the easiest literature to get your hands on here in the US is about the cultural revolution...I've read Wild Swans, Bei Dao's Waves, Son of the Revolution... Even if it's obscure, I'd love to hear about some of your favorites. And honestly while I'm at it, I don't mind pickin up something about a nearby country, as international events and cultures have their influence... thank you!!! |

Some Of my favourite films are directed by Wong Kar Wai, a Hong Kong Director.
I particuarly recommend 'In the Mood for Love' and ChunKing Express |

hey guys...thanks for your suggestions...
I saw Not One Less last night, really enjoyed it. The only Wong Kar Wai the video store had last time I went in was Millenium Mambo. Interesting minimalist approach but not my favorite...I'd like to see 2046. We'll see what they have later this week... |
