I found this place a few years ago that operates from the idea that all the world should be a library;

BookCrossing.Com

At bookcrossing, people post descriptions of what an old book means to them on the website, write a link to the page inside the book, and then "release" it into the wild for someone else to find, read, and enjoy. It's like a Where's George for books.

There are books being left and found all over the world, and the best part is looking up who had the book before you, and what it meant to them. It really is a fantastic site. I found a cookbook with a bookcrossing address in the frozen foods section of a grocery store once. Smile

Check it out. Smile You won't be sorry.

I've been participating in Book Crossing for ages. It's fabulous, and everyone else should take part! Hooray!
