I recently came across a book called Best Laid Plan written by a young Canadian author named Allan Wills.

It's written in a similar style to Bill Bryson's Down Under (In a Sunburned Country), but refreshingly different seeing as it's put together by a young guy who lands in Oz and creates a truly remarkable reality for himself and coutless others, from nothing. (much like the modern nation of Australia and a cool change from the publisher-paid all-too-easy-travelling 50-something observations of Bryson......not that they aren't wickedly funny and interesting)

I got off a plane in Sydney a few years back with a work visa and about 400 bucks to my name, so I can definitely see where Allan's coming from.

I'd recommend it to anybody who's keen on a new take on the whole "Oz thing" as well as anyone who's keen on helping a young author get the ball rolling.

sounds like a good book......ill have to look into it. when i did a search for it the title comes out best laid plans by sidney seldon....glad you provided that website or i would have never found it.

Wow... I live 2 minutes from his house and he never offered to bring me a copy... guess he thinks I can't read... sigh
