Still looking for Carmen Sandiego

Does anyone have any names or titles of Arab dance music producers? Any style of electronic is fine and i'm looking to find some music that you might hear in an Arab disco aside from the western music that is played.

I'm a huge fan of Natacha Atlas, Transglobal Underground and Temple of Sound, who are all musically related (as in they've all worked together--some of Transglobal Underground is the backbone of Temple of Sound). They're not necessarily Arabic, but definitely have the influence (especially Natacha Atlas). I listen to all of them regularly.

For a sampler of a more authentic variety, check out the Putumayo Arabic Groove compilation. It's definitely got the goods, but it was a little poppy for my taste. Still worth a listen.

If you wait until you make it to Portland this summer I can share them all with you. Or maybe I'll just make you a mixed CD and mail it to you.

Hey Joey, I already have the Arabic Groove disc on my server. I've got some more stuff at home I'll dig through when I get back there.

Being a bellydancer, this is one topic I actually know about!

Hipdrop.com has a great online radio station with some really good music! That's where I usually find new stuff.
