Thanks for the link. I will read it later, but it makes me think of a man I know who is walking across America. He is deeply religious and well educated, but at the moment he is homeless. He has had some pretty rough treatment, such as people throwing bottles out of car windows--aiming right for his head. Also he has learned to not let anyone see him going into shelter at night, because once some toughs came in and beat him up. He will not accept rides under any circumstances.
