Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
I know I should google this but wanted to see what the latest experiences of folks have been...traveling in and out of US. Did you guys have to check your camera's in checked baggage or did you hand carry.

All That and a Bag of Doritos |
I flew last weekend and had my camera in my carry on with me.
You can check out the TSA website to find out what is/not allowed. Mainly, it is liquid items (water, shampoo, toothpaste, lipgloss, etc.). http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51802,00.html |

Carry on for me... unless you have a hard case, don't put it in checked.

cool...i was just paranoid thinking what I was going to do for my trip in Dec.
Sky Annie (who is sitting right next to me) just reminded me to leave the lens cleaning solution in the checked luggage. The reason I asked because of the whole bomb being triggered by the flash and also a friend who said for Peru he had to check in the camera (well i think he was smoking something) I'm Flickring away... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mreddy "The difference between loneliness and solitude is your perception of who you are alone with and who made the choice." --anonymous quote |

Holds PhD in Packing |
Yeah unless you have a small Point and Shoot, I would avoid checking it at all costs. Luggage can be handled pretty rough, and it doesn't take much to break a lens.
I should know... |
