Hi everybody i have just come across a cool new product in teh Sanyo CA65

its a waterproof camera takes 6mp still images and uses small sd cards i was contiplating getting one of these as i think it has to be the best allrounder out there. Im thinking ill couple it with a new 160gb ipod and a card reader so as soon as teh sd vcard is full transfer it to teh ipod and keep on shooting.

What do you guys think and has anyone owned or had any experience with using one of these before

It's a nice idea, but it is only water proof to 1.5m - which is nothing. I think I would worry too much that I might drop it, or go deeper than that.

If you want a camera around the same price, which will produce video good enough for the web, and nice bright pics.

Plus, one that is shock proof and has a nice metal case, then you could get an Olympus mju 725 SW.

That's the one I have. It has received mixed reviews on it's quality. The battery life isn't great (but then a second battery is very cheap) and there are better cameras in it's class. But there aren't better cameras that will go down to 5m and that you could drop and not worry about.

Plus, I've had mine for a few weeks and it's a really nice feeling camera.

The Xactis (which are sold under the Fischer, Sanyo, and Sharp brands) are so-so. They use CMOS sensors, and have all of the issues associated with that technology. That said, as an all-around, take a few pics here and a few vids there cameras, they work pretty well. It's also a solid little device.

If this is a just for fun camera, and you can grab one at a good price, then I say go for it.

(That said, I wouldn't trust the waterproof rating 100%.)
