I couldn't find this anywhere, but I'm sure it's been covered. And I'm also pretty ignorant when it comes to digital cameras. But will I be able to download my photos from my camera at an internet cafe in South America or do I need to bring any special equipment...besides the cord? I started a blog and I want to be able to post some pictures. Any ideas?

posting photos from the road can be a daunting prospect. many internet cafes don't allow you to install programs, plug in USB cables, or upload things to their computers. If you find a cafe that does allow this, then all you should need to access your camera is your camera cable, as long as the computer uses Windows XP - no driver needs to be installed in that case.

However the photos on your camera are at a much higher resolution than you need for your blog. So, you'll need a program such as Picture Tray that will let you resize your photos to something smaller and better suited to your blog. I know some blogs resize automatically, but then you have to deal with the slow pain of uploading large files via the internet. Picture Tray can be run directly from a CD or USB pen drive - no need to install it.

Feel free to write back or send a PM if you want more details - I'd be happy to help.
