I believe that Las Vegas is extremely photogenic, especially for video. Take a chance. All you can lose is 31 minutes, but no money.
My newest film “Neon Nights” whisks you off to Las Vegas. Watch the volcano erupt, pirates battle, fountains dance to music, as the Las Vegas hotel-casinos lure people to the slot machines by pretending to be Venice, Paris, Imperial Rome, Ancient Egypt, New York, and Rio. Plus everything lights up at night, especially The Neon. Come to Vegas, provided you have a high speed internet connection. “Neon Nights” is a free, non-commercial, streaming video on the Windows Media Player. No ads and no strings attached. I still sell absolutely anything. (If you actually want to gamble for money, or you are interested in Vegas editing software, this is the wrong place.) My video site with a complete menu is: http://www.geocities.com/intrepidberkeleyexplorer/Video.html There are 26 of my other amateur travel videos on-line including trips to China, Russia, Antarctica, Italy, Hawaii, Britain, Mayan Pyramids, Australia, Bali, Africa, Greece, and Turkey; see lions, whales, elephants, or penguins. The planet is yours. Give these films a try. (I also have still pictures from every continent, which you can link to at the bottom of the video page, regardless of the modem being used.) Erik,
Your website is fun, and I'm glad someone is tryng to keep the written word alive, combined with photography. But when it comes to Deception Island in Antarctica and the "swimming", video has a supreme advantage. Check out "There's Something About Penguuins" where I tried to do justice to that supreme lunacy. (I stayed as dry as I could, took off no clothes, and filmed it all.) Dave |

Hey there IBE, I finally got around to checking out your videos...cool stuff, seems like you've been around.
If you don't mind a little constructive criticism, the videos feel rather long; the pacing seems a bit slow and there are a lot of redundant shots. (Penguins as fun as they are, can and do get tiring after a while.) Then again, perhaps this is just me and my short attention span talking. e. http://www.theglobaltrip.com |

Erik,
First of all, it is a pleasure to run into someone else who is streaming high quality, free, non-commercial videos over the internet. There should be a club, forum, or support group just for us. You probably have more of a technical background than I do, in order to create that nifty screen on your site. (I needed help from a professional, who streams my videos from his site and handles all dealings with the server.) We have fairly similar styles. But you are younger than I am, and therefore (I presume) like quicker MTV-style cuts. So my videos feel a bit slow to you, while the part of your Antarctica video I watched appeared to actually have fast motion special effects, plus very rapid cuts. It's also clear I adore penguins more than you do, having called my film "There's Something About Penguins". Server/computer/link problems are always a clear and present danger. I have suffered through several shutdowns. Just now, I lost the Antarctica video on your screen right after you mentioned the 40,000 penguins. Then I could not get the film to play at all, and apparently ended up being booted off your site. Perhaps you know what the solution is to that problem, because I want to see the rest of this video and the two others. Many people have difficulties getting my films to stream, and I know the common remedies. But being cut off in the middle of a video is not usual. Typically, they either play or they don't. And some of my oldest films are over an hour. Maybe it's the old gremlin of internet congestion. I will try again, and apply my traditional fixes. We both took the same Antarctica Peninsula voyage, starting from the tip of Argentina. My ship had not previously collided with a glacier. But you made the most of that photo opportunity. I want to see how you handled the rest of the journey. In case you wish to move this discussion to normal e-mail, I can be reached at davidmundstock@msn.com .
