How easy is this?

can you just hook you camera up, if so do you need to carry the software arround with you?

can you just put the memory card into a USB reader and transfer direct to internet/CD

hope you can help

note - the camera will be either Pentax S4I or Sony DSC T9

If the computer you'll be using has a card reader, then you can just plug in your card into the reader and the computer will read it like a cd or a floppy disk of yore. You'll be able to view and copy the photos off the memory card into the computer's hard drive.

You can also connect it to the computer using the USB cable that came with your camera. I'm not sure how it is in older versions of Windows, but in WinXP, you can view the contents of the memory card without having to install the software.

Don't mind me, I'm just wandering.

I normaly use a card reader that I plug into the computer via USB. This way, like Nina says, the computer recognize your memory card and you can view, copy or burn your pictures. It also handy because you don´t have to install any software to the computer (wich is almost always prohibite at internet cafes).

You can download a free photo editor for Windows called Portable GIMP. You don't need to install it to run it -- just download it to the desktop and double-click on it. You can then resize your photos in order to upload them.
