Could any recommend any good free and MAC accesible sites where one can store photos? I tried Snapfish but their quality is shite and Web Shots isn't compatible w/my Mac.

Any ideas appreciated.

How do you wanna store them?

Hi-res, or just to store them.

How much space (megs or gigs) do you need?

How often do you want to access them?

Do you want to share them? Or is it just for you?

Delara, you are on a MAC!?!?. I didn't know that. It's not bad or good, I just didn't know. Wink

Sean, I basically want to be able to store my photos online so that both I and friends/fam can access them at leisure. I've looked at the whole Yahoo photo thing and was not impressed.

And yep, I'm MAC chic. C'mon, would a PC user have such a cool tattoo?

Get your own website...you have the most control....Moveable Type is pretty flexible - that's what we use for our blogs.

Or...shit. I don't know of anyother solutions that would work well.

What about Blogspot...do they let you upload, etc? (Maybe that is stoopid ?)

The next version of BootsnAll (the website) will have a photo sharing capability. But you don't want to wait I'm sure.

Ant, what was that site that allowed photo sharing? Can't 'member.

I've thought about the whole website thing, and in fact my folks have an account right now that I could use, however I do not have all the time in the world right now to get it up and running. The blogspot thing is fun and quick, but if I want to put up images I've got to pay for the upgrade. My blogspot blog is temporary until I can afford the fees for a proper blog.

Create a Yahoo Group. Make your family and friends members. You will be owner & moderator and can control membership or make it open to anyone to join. They have photo albums and file storage. I think they allow up to 30MB in photo files. You can also store them in the files folder. You can also use the "membership" as an email distribution list. This is all browser based and can be accessed from any public computer.

You might try ophoto.com. They are owned by kodak and believe they are free.

You could also try to find some free webspace and use the BetterHTMLExport plugin for iphoto (http://www.droolingcat.com/software/betterhtmlexport/) to generate your webpages.

off the gallery website i recently saw the article:

Scrapblog: Put your photos online!
Posted by: Bharat Mediratta on Jan 29, 2003 - 08:35 PM

Jason Trommeter writes "I've just started a new website called Scrapblog.com. I'd like to make it into a community photo gallery for people who have blogs and want to post photos, but aren't able to install Gallery on their own servers.". It looks pretty cool. Sign up and publish your photos with them!

---

though on a seperate, if you have your own webspace (if not, i mean you can hook yourself up for under $5/month these days), you can set up the gallery program < http://gallery.menalto.com > which is free. it's simple, fanatstic for online photo galleries. what a pleasure. it's what i'll be using on my rtw.

there's numerous examples on the website. you can literally log in, upload your shots, it auto resizes them into thumbnails and there's many other powerful features.

(the scrapblog site uses it as a bsae, though i haven't checked it out)

cheers.

As a fellow Mac user, need I point out that .Mac is only $99 a year for email AND 100MB of web storage as well as a web site you could put your gallery in!
If you want something cheaper I have a link that is $49 a year for 25MB web space, 1GB per month data transfer, and unlimited email accounts. It also includes your own domain name registration if you need it. It was the cheapest easiest way to get online space I could find so that is what I use. If you need more space they have it as well and it's really cheap. Click on the link in my signature for Whole Earth Adventures and go to the "links" page. It is right there and a really great deal.

Good luck.

hey there

try this site it is really easy and easy to upload - you get your own page where you can write about your photos etc. it seems you can upload as many photos and places as you want. It seems to be MAC friendly too. I tried it once on a MAC and had no problems

www.worldisround.com

it's a great site to check out photos too and while you are on your trip you can let others see what you have done so far...

It is also FREE!

cheers
