Has anyone done extended train travel with a bike. I would love to be able to take a bike with me on a summer Europe trip rather than renting in every city and running out of cash really quik. Any wisdom?

Europeans are pretty keen on their bicycling about GLR, my wife being swiss I know did quite a bit of touring about Europe when she was younger and single, and her sister and fella at the time even had a tandem they would take off with them by train to cycle back. On www.seat61.com under general info there's a special section on it. If you're going anywhere near Switzerland, I've still hopefully got quite a reasonable simple five speed tourer hanging up in the inlaws attic somewhere that I paid all of $30 for and you could use.

Well thanx North. If I make it to Swizerland I may take you up on that. I love seat61. I never noticed the bicycling thing before, I will check that out.
