Hey people...

Can anyone tell me if Vienna is worth a 4 night trip in September for my girlfriend and I?

I've found a pretty good hotel/flight deal but know little about the place other than it's supposed to be quite a beautiful city.

Is it as expensive as I imagine it to be?

I didn't find it significantly different than any other major European city. Definitely not more expensive than London.

I loved it, there's plenty of history on the Habsburgs, the Austrian Empire, etc. I stayed in a hostel and made most of my meals so I don't know about places to eat per se, but I didn't hear bad things.

And a couple times I just ended up playing soccer, I found it a laid-back city.

I'll be in Vienna in August. Accommodation is cheap: 100 euros/night per 2 bedroom apartment (there will be 4 of us so it's dead cheap!).

If you plan to eat all your meals out, yeah it's expensive. But you can always shop at the market or supermarket and cook yourself.

Also you might want to get a Vienna Card which comes wt discounts at many museums and restaurants.

Even Budapest was expensive in August but i found it less expensive in May. By Sept things should be less expensive in Vienna as well

Gene,

Vienna is definitely a cool place. I visited there about a month and a half ago. It was great. I found that there's not a crazy amount of things to see, but it's definitely worth the stop. It's very clean, and I found the people to be quite nice. I didn't find it too expensive either...

Thanks so much for the info everyone - a great help

I'm gutted though, we've left it too late and flights are now out of our budget!!!
I still want to go another time though.

PauseTheMoment - great blog btw, can I ask what you thought was cool about Vienna? Is it just a vibe thing or something else?

Thanks again

Actually there are plenty of things to see in Vienna if you like palaces and museums. Not to mention shopping.
