Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can tell me about these two cities. I'm looking at some teaching positions in Italy and these are two of the possibilities that have come my way, but I've never made it to either place in my past Italy travels, so I'm unfamiliar with both...

Thoughts and/or info?

Thank you! Smile

Brooke,

They are pretty much the same place. Gavirate is more or less a "suburb" of Varese. It is beautiful country, and the older parts of Varese are very charming, as are all the other lake towns in the area. But be warned: it is a really quiet area, and the rustic old buildings quickly give way to more...modern...vacation homes like those one might find in places like Palm Springs. Lots of late 70's era condos and townhouses built for middle-class Italian tourists and given to more development than the older, more rustic lake towns.

That said, if you're looking to get away for a while it might very well be the perfect place to do so. And urban centers like Milan aren't far away.

Hope that helps. Smile
