Okay, now I am doing seven days divided between Berlin and Copenhagen in May. Any suggestions on what I should see?

Whatyadoin already covered Berlin. The only thing I might add is going to see the only portion of The Wall that is still left standing.
Copenhagen is a great city and should be a lot of fun in May. For a good view of everything, go up the Round Tower on a nice day and take everything in. Nyhavn is a great place to spend an afternoon/evening. There's some pretty cool pubs in the area and a lot of people just hangout on the canal. I'm not sure if you know about Christiana, but definitely pay it a visit. It's basically a hippy commune in the middle of the city. They started out as squatters on an old military base, but it took on a life of its own and the city considers in a "social experiment" now. Tivoli has a special place in every Dane's heart and is well worth a visit. I believe it was the first amusement park in Europe, but it's much more than that now. Even if you don't go on the rides, it's a very cool place to just relax or see a show for a few hours. There's also the canal/harbor tours similar to Amsterdam. Kinda touristy but fun. Or you can keep it cheap and ride the water taxi around. If you feel the need to see a Museum, go to the Ny Carlsburg Glyptotek. It's a statue museum that started from some Dane's personal collection. Very cool. As for day trips from Copenhagen, I'd suggest taking the train an hour north of the city to Helsingor, site of the castle that Hamlet is based on. It's definitely worth a tour of the inside and the surrounding town is neat as well (though probably a bit touristy by May). You could also take a daytrip to Malmo, Sweden. It's the first town across the new bridge and it's got a pretty cool town hall square and old church. -------- "Not all those who wander are lost." ~ J. R. R. Tolkien |
