Thorn Tree Refugee |
Im heading to croatia in June from the 4th until the 26th,
starting in Dubrovnik, going to a couple of the islands, split, zadar, zagreb, Rijeka and finishing in Pula. I was wondering if anyone has been to any of these places and could advise on roughly how long you think you need to spend in each of them. Also im travelling there myself, which im quite happy to do but if there is anyone going to be in croatia during June it would be great to hear from you and see if we can arrange to meet up. |

Lost in Place |
We visited Rijeka and Pula, bookends between our visit to the island Cres. We went blind, that is we weren't planning on visiting either town until we got there (actually we weren't planning on Croatia, we just ended up there.) So when we rolled into Rijeka we went right to the tourist bureau. There we got a map of sites to see, and strolled through town. We were there a full day, and I got the impression that there's more to see in that large port town that what we did. (BTW, the walk was really interesting and worth the time). If I returned there I would spend at least one night, and see the nightlife, visit the big museum, and troll around the countryside outside of town a bit, too.
Pula was a small town, a good place to relax, but a bit touristy and not a lot of excitement. 'Resort town' is the term that comes to mind, and I believe it's more family oriented than some other places that you'll find along the coast. I apologize for being a bit vague but my notes are at home, and I'm far from there. My memory is even farther away! Hope this helps though. Alba go brách, BCDouglas |

yeah ive heard theres not a huge amount to pula and its not really worth spending too long there. Its always good to hear what other people think of places as sometimes guidebooks arent much help. Thanks
