I was planning on heading out to Loveparade this year in Dortmund on the 19th - however, I've been hearing mixed reviews from a few German friends on the state of it since it left Berlin. Did anyone attend last year in Essen, or know anyone who did? Has it declined to a shadow of it's past self?

I assume it's probably gone a bit commercial, judging from the website and pics from last year, but that I can deal with so long as there's good music and a lot to see.

there are tons of amazing parades all over europe that would put that one to absolute shame

I got to madrid on july 5th and it was randomly some ultra gay pride parade, im not gay but it was probably the best party experience ive ever seen in my life, and i didnt even know about it till i was there

Any suggestions for anything upcoming later in the summer outside of the huge festivals that everyone knows about?

What has gone downhill about loveparade? Is it decreased attendance, bad talent, overcommercialism?

Zürich's organizationaly healthy Love Parade equivalent, Street Parade, comes up in mid-August...

I realize this is bit late to post, however, Loveparade 2008 in Dortmund, July 19, 2008....

1.6 Million people estimated to have attended, I'd say its still doing pretty well.
