Does anyone here know any 'must see' in Perugia, Italy ? I've been there 4 years ago , I was just passing by and I do not remember much things. I'll be there in july for a few days and I hope it's not a dull location.

I've not been there, but it's the capital city of Umbria - so it's not a dull or quiet little village by any stretch. There's a jazz festival there each July, so depending on when you're there you could find it to be quite bustling, indeed.

We stayed in Assisi last summer for three nights, and ate dinner in Perugia. Perugia is a happening town, and a university center. I'm not sure if there are any "must-sees" besides the Cathedral - and the chocolate tour. But we loved the vibe on the streets and the restaurants, and would have happily spent more time just wandering around, getting lost. You should also stop by Assisi if you have the time - it was probably 20 minutes away by car, and the frescoes in the Basilica are amazing.

i've been to assisi. i found out that assisi is about 25 km away from perugia after i posted my last thread. it was very beautiful. you mean basilica wheere saint francisc is buried. as the matter of fact there are 2 churches, one on top of the other (first time in my life when i saw something like this). and the view from the top of that hill where the church is is astonishing. anyway, i am not pretty much happy about this trip.

I spent half a day in Perugia a few years ago. It has great architecture (esp around the main square) and has kept much of its original character but I didn't think there were many "must-dos". The Univeristy gives it lots of life and the main churches are pretty impressive. It is quite a stroll up hill from the rail station and most things were shut in the middle of the day as is fairly traditional.

Assisi is excellent and St Francis Basilica is a remarkable sight even despite all the crowds.

I just got back from there. the city looks nice, nice night life, but i'll never go there again. Assisi, a small town near perugia worths to be seen, it's like a Jerusalem of Europe.
