I wonder how safe it is using the machines with this card ? In in Budapest the machine gave me a blank receipt,in another city despite entering correct pin number after I entered the amount I wanted, the machine declined to issue because it said incorrect pin.and yet another machine accepted my pin and request for the amount ,then declined to give out money. all these amounts could have been taken out of my account without my knowledge.and what recourse would I have that I did not receive the money

Yeah europe can be a real pain for drawing out money

I usually have Switch (maestro), visa debit / visa and mastercard with me and between them i can usually get money out

In spain and italy a lot of the bank machines look completely vandalised covered in grafitee and the like, and are so temporamental

I'd advice that you try to get money during the day inside a banks shop floor. This way they are usually clean and working..

All countries rules are different, but i'd stick with the maximum try of 2 pins in a 24 hour period, because your screwed if the machine swipes your card

I drew money out in venice with a major european bank (abn) and it took 30 or so days to debit my account, so keep a written tally of monies withdrawn and check your online statements at least once a week, I usually check every (3-4 days)
