Holds PhD in Packing |
Howdy folks!
So... I'm heading to Barcelona in a couple of weeks for a long weekend with my man-of-the-moment. We've both been there before on seperate occasions (and absolutely loved it, hence the decision to return together) and have done most of the obvious touristy stuff; such as Casa Batllo, Park Guell, the MNAC, Museo Picasso, wandering La Ramblas and Barrio Gotic, etc... so now I want some ideas for things to do that are not on the usual tourist tick-list. Neither of us get much beyond "dos [cafe con leche/cerveza/insert food item here], por favour" in the language stakes but my sign/mime language is supurb... and I'm game to put it to the test. Are there any Barca lovers or local experts out there that know of some hidden gems or offbeat experiences that aren't in the guide books or most people don't bother with and really should? The quirkier the better! Cheers, L. |

Seriously people... did no one discover anything cool in Barcelona other than what was in their guide book?
24 hours and counting... inspire me! (and if you don't, I shall just wander aimlessly, have an awesome time anyway and then come back and tell you in detail all about the places you probably already know about and you'll wish you had jsut dropped in a quick line now to shut me up as I'll descibe it so lusciously you'll all be sick with jealousy! ha!) xxx |

All That and a Bag of Doritos |
Lucky Luke, there are a ton of threads on here about Barca, and lots of mentions within threads. Many of us are going to Spain in the near future (myself included). A quick search will bring up a ton of info.

One thing I found very useful in Barcelona were the sighseeing tours. Now, sightseeing busses are what I usually don't do, but for a place like B I thought it was the best way to see the city and to choose whatever is worth a closer look.
The sightseeing busses go in three different circles. You can buy a ticket for one or two days, to do all three of them, or at least two. It's a hop-on-hop-off bus, so you can do it at your own pace. __________________________ gdzie mnie wiatr poniesie |

Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
Salvador Dali museum in figuieras. Its a day trip.
It may be in the books, but theres a reason for it. BTW, the paella in the restaurant opposite was to die for. Leave the city, poke around shore towns. Spend MORE time in Pargue Guell. To me, its one of the best parks in the world. Theres a science museum there too, if I recall. I never actually went to it. |

I spent a lot of time walking around the Tibidibao neighborhood (by the Petxe or whatever it is metro exit). Very cool area, very interesting feel. Maybe you have already been.
Try the City History museum, or one of the archaeological museums. I dont think they´re quite as visited. Have you been to Montjuic or Montserrat? HQ Coordinates: 46.76n, 92.32w |
