Hello!
My Italian journey is quickly approaching, and I have about an extra day to fill before ending the Italy portion of my trip in Venice.

So I'm trying to decide if I should go to Sirmione/Verona or Trieste/Grado. They all have so much to offer. I'm personally leaning toward Trieste/Grado for some beach time and to see the gorgeous Miramare Castle and spectacular cliffside views. But various people have told me to go to Sirmione/Verona instead, and to save Trieste for another time.

Will I miss something by not going to Sirmione/Verona? I'm already going to Lake Como & visiting many of the lakeside towns. Is Sirmione that different?

And I've seen photos of Verona and it looks quite enchanting...and I also heard that Padova is a great city too...SO.....

if you had one day to fill before heading off to Venice, what city/town would you visit and WHY?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Jen

Hi,Jen!
Been to Trieste and Verona and I would definitely choose Verona if I had to go again. It's enchanting, romantic and beautiful. The Colliseum is worth seeing there.
What I remember from Trieste is that it was not sth special.
Anyways, I've been waiting for a chance to visit Verona again since my last visit there in 1999 and would say it's the second preffered destination for me after Prague.
Have a nice trip!

Hi Marin,
Thanks for your suggestion. Wow, Verona has got to be special if it's your second most favored city after Prague!
This is definitely helping me in my decision. I only wish opera season started a little earlier in Verona!
Thanks a bunch!
Jen
