Ya, I had a great time in Belgrade....

I'd recommend just hanging out at the cafes, getting ice coffees etc... walk around the nicer areas. Make sure to check out the churches and cathedrals

Although that was last summer, they may be a bit hostile to Americans now?

Ha! This makes my day for some reason. Breaded blue eggplant. I lived next door in Sarajevo and had no idea this was even a dish, much less a recommended one. It sounds good though.

Fully agree here.. was in belgrade last saturday. i really enjoyed it, its such a small city and has many pedestrain areas the fortress is great to walk around and has good river views

don't expect too much and you'll be quietly surprised

I'd avoid the belgrade zoo
there's only one small dog in a little cage

its a shitzu Shrug

sorry very bad joke indeed, if your in to animal welfare avoid it like the plague, the cages are way to small and belgrades extreme temperatures can't do the animals any good

Rakija

Hey If you are looking for a hostel rec from Belgrade stay at the 3 black cats hostel. It's very botique an the owner Mladen tries his best to make everyone feel at home. He offered me and my travel companion free Beer upon check in and Rakija the next day for breakfast! Nice guy. Belgrade is okay, being from California don't appreciate the friggen smokers so much but this is theeeeway of life in Serbia. Get used to it.
