Hey All

A friend and I are looking into traveling to Spain end of september. We are thinking about flying into Barcelona and then spending a few days at the beach. I was hoping you could give me some suggestions on
- weather at that time of year
- great beaches to go to
- good location for scuba diving

and such things like that

thanks all

Go to the beach PAST the port on the edge of the city, dont go to the beaches in the middle of the city surrounded by the GIGANTIC international port and the smaller local port.

The weather should be nice then. I've been there as late as November and it was comfortable.

The beach at Barceloneta is fine considering it's in the city. Not sure if that's the one Max says don't go to, but it's walking distance from the bottom of Ramblas and has the advantage of being next to the Barceloneta neighborhood which has loads of places to eat, drink, hang out. There are more beaches beyond Barceloneta which I hear are less crowded. But at the end of September, that might not be a problem anyway.

I was in Spain last summer. The weather should be beautiful in September. Personally I would head out of Barcelona a bit to visit a few other spots on the Costa Brava. We loved Tossa Del Mar and Cadaques (where Dali's house is now a museum).

September should be ideal time. Still warm and not so crowded. The Spaniards and French take holidays mostly in August and that's when it gets crowded everywhere.

Barceloneta (the Gothic district) is a nice place to stay. I'd avoid Ramblas - very popular with tourist, or only with tourists.

The coast towards the north and the French border (Costa Brava) is very nice too.

Barcelona is absolutely beautiful and comfortable in September. As for the beach I would recommend checking out Sitges. It is less than 45 minutes from Barcelona and a train ride should only cost you about 4 euros. It is much much nicer there than the beaches that are right off of the city. It is totally worth it to take the short trip. I would also second checking out the Dali Museum where his house was originally. If you are into art it is a must see. Also just a train ride away, it might take you the good part of 1 day though, getting there, spending time there, and getting back.
