I don't know if this will take off, but it's worth a try. It'll take a bit for the usual suspects to tinker with the settings enough to make this viable, but it would be fun ... for me, at least.

Same rules as Where Is This Place, but with Google Earth.

I don't know why, but something makes me think Central America, Pacific Coast. Based on the N/S orientation, are we above Costa Rica?

That's some good reasoning, but we are nowhere in Central America. Costa Rica has no urban areas that approach the size of this one.

Oh, so that is an urban area. I wasn't sure if it was that or an arid one. Okay, big south coast city -- are we looking down on the Big Easy?

It is kind of a south coast city, but it's most definitely not Nawlins. This is not a river delta, despite the fact that the city's name implies a river.

Savannah, Georgia?

(This is an excellent game idea, by the way.)

Urk, I gave away too much. Yes, this is the Bay of Guanabara, with Rio de Janeiro on one side; Niteroi on the other. Look at the left side of the bay opening, to the concave-shaped beach. That's Copacabana. The hinge point to the left of that is Arpoador; to the left of that is Ipanema/Leblon. You can't swim at the bay beaches themselves (e.g., Botafogo, Flamengo), since they are horribly polluted. Ipanema and Niteroi are the first outer beaches where the water isn't contaminated.

All yours, Ričard. (This is the moment of truth for my little game.)

Haci, you've got to deactivate your status bar when you post the screen shot. I just plugged in your latitude and longitude (visible at the bottom of the screen shot you posted) to figure out where your entry is. (I wasn't far off before I checked it, but a country away.)

Felix self-disqualifies.

I just noticed that and it took a bit of figuring before I managed to get it off there. Maybe I should post another.

Are we looking at a river delta? If so, it appears to be the east coast of a built-up, modern city. Are we on the Atlantic seaboard of the US?

Not a delta, and not the US. It is on the Atlantic, though.

It is a watery looking place -- is there a canal in the picture? Are we in Europe, the Netherlands, perhaps?
