Not on Honshu. It's ironic that you mentioned the sheer number of islands as this place used to be one in its own right, but for a reason that can probably be discerned from the photo, something happened less than a century ago and it joined the one of the big four islands.

The straight grid-like pattern of the major roads says Norht America to me. Something else makes me thing SE USA -- are we over Old Dixie -- South Carolina, perhaps?
