Very politically correct of you to avoid stating that Australia is an island (most Australians would assert that it is, I think) but that is the obvious red herring I hoped would be seen. So, no, it is not that. As far as clues go, I'm not as clever as you at coming up with cryptic clues that help without just giving it away.
