It makes more sense economically for Americans to go to 4 of theses places than the other one.

At first I'd thought that maybe most of their currencies were pegged to the US Dollar... Then I started investigating and discovered that, lo, all except the Philippines actually USE the US Dollar as their currency.

I was really surprised to find out that East Timor used USD.

How about Pakistan? It's the only one with a nuclear arsenal, and that ends in a consonant.

Hmm... Not sure how this works according to the rules.

Pakistan is, indeed, the odd one out, but I wasn't thinking of those reasons.

I was looking for something a bit more geographical...

Looks like the other four are landlocked. This game could be tricky in this form, but I like it so far.

Well done rawjer!

The next hint was going to be that 20 years ago (before Eritrea became independent of Ethiopia) Pakistan wouldn't have been alone in this respect.

It's kind of like WITP w/o the pictures, but with the need for ESP!

Thanks, oswiu.

That was nearly a dead heat. I don't have one right now, but I'll think of one for another round in a bit. Haci, have you got one for us?

Where'd everyone go? My first guess was Nepal as it's the only one that didn't have an official name change during the 20th Century, I think?

Well done, rawjer! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I don't know where everyone's gone -- might have something to do with V-Day?

Thanks, Haci. That felt like a shot in the dark.

I think I'll be able to come up with loads of questions for this game just in idle thought, but here's a hastily assembled one for now:

Which of these cities doesn't belong according to what I have in mind?

a. Seoul
b. Taipei
c. Hong Kong
d. Kuala Lumpur
e. Shanghai
