Well done, Eppyboy. Amsterdam was what I was going for, but not because of the first letter. I was going for something that had to do with the names and languages.

And here it is again for the new page:

Which doesn't belong for the particular reason I have in mind?

a. Lisbon
b. Amsterdam
c. Rome
d. Warsaw
e. Vienna

Well... Amsterdam's the only one that isn't its country's capital. Is that what you're looking for?

Oh... I just noticed the hint re: the reason.

Could it be that Amsterdam's the only one that's spelled the same in English as in its native language?

I think to make it easier for us you should pose the questions with the idea you have in mind (like my question).

If you want to stick with "odd one out" questions, then you should make it easier for the person to know what you're driving at. The concpet behind this game is to do research and find the answer to the question; and then pose you're own question. The object of the game is not to stump the board, because once you stump everyone, the topic becomes dead.

Amsterdam is actually the capital of the Netherlands, even though most of the administrative offices are in The Hague.

But DING DING DING of the follow up! That's exactly what I was going for. Well spotted uswiu! All the others have different spellings in the local language, but Amsterdam is still Amsterdam in Dutch.

MLISS4816, I agree with you that we need to try to do questions that aren't quite so vague and impossible without clues. We should probably do clues right from the start for ones like we've recently done.

But I don't really worry about stumping the board with this. Most of us have played WITP quite a bit and that one goes in waves too. In either game, if a person needs a clue they just have to make a guess to show they need help.

I will try to think of fun questions with only one correct answer though. We'll figure out the way this should go on this board and I think we can keep it going. Banana

I'm afraid I don't really have the time to pose one of my own atm, so someone else is welcome to take over the board for now Smile

Ok, we'll step away from multi-choice and move to an essay question. In 500 words or less--

Just kidding! Big Grin

What do Athens, Los Angeles, Moscow, Rome, Tokyo, Barcelona, Montreal, Seoul, Sydney, Munich, Beijing, and Helsinki all have in common?

Yep. They were--and will be, in the case of Beijing--host cities of the Summer Olympics. Munich being a more infamous one.

BostonBill, you're up...

Although that's true, the answer deals with geography.

Perhaps Italy, with it's only semi-active volcano?

I forgot about that. However, it has to do with borders.

Only Oman has a discontinuous border (is that the right word?) I mean you have to cross another country to get to part of it from another part.

I think most have given up on this, or just that I made it too hard. So, I will answer my own question? All but Sudan have noncontiguous enclaves/exclaves.

enclaves & exclaves

That's what I was going for; I just never checked a map and assumed Oman was the only country that had such an enclave. Nice question.

In this case, Viaggero has the option to post another trivia question or pass it to someone else.
