Im leaving in September for about a year to South America. Im basically covering the entire continent except for Venezuela and Colombia. I will be wwoofing approximately 1/3 of my time there, and will be spending plenty of time in urban and rural environments. Below is a list of the footwear i have but i was wondering if anyone recommends i get something in addition to those or not take something (ie: keens, chaco, tennis shoes, solomon amphibious shoes). Keep in mind i dont want to carry a million pounds.

- Lowa Renegad Mid GTX (hiking boots)
- Sanuk slipper/sandal (http://www.sanuk.com/)
- plastic/rubber flip flops (for shower,beach, etc)

Should i leave behind the Sanuk's and get some keens or solomons? should i get some comfy low top tennis shoes?
Im open to any ideas.

I can't imagine why you'd want to add more footwear. The Sanuks and flip flops are super light, so just wear the boots whenever you'll be carrying all your gear around. When you want something more comfortable for general walking but more protective than flip flops, just wear the Sanuks.

My standard footwear choice is a pair of skate shoes, and some cheap flip flops. I've gone trekking in the skate shoes and worn them for days of walking around cities, but I tend to live in the flip flops most of the time.

I was supposed to go to Peru in August (grrr) and my plan was to hit Machu Picchu with the same footwear plan.

We leave in October for our RTW, and we will be spending the first 5-6 months in S. America. I am bringing a pair of Chacos and a pair of Merrells (not boots, but strong, durable, waterproof shoes that I feel comfortable hiking in). Maybe a really light pair of flip flops for showering or the beach.

i def dont want to carry too much and might leave behind the sanuk's, but what if i wanna play soccer, go running, etc. I think the solomon amphibians would be good for sports as well as having other uses. Any suggestions?

Your three choices sound good to me. Personally, I'd ditch the Sanuks if you're already bringing flip-flops. But you've got a nice mix, and your Lowas will stand up to plenty of abuse.
