Anyone have any feedback on the wheel/backpack combos from Victorinox?

My opinion is that I wouldn't take one for long term travel. If I want something wheeled, I would by a wheeled suitcase. If I want something to go on my back and be my primary/sole bag, I don't want the added weight and lost space.

I went for a travel pack (in particular the MEC Walkabout from MEC in Canada http://www.mec.ca )

But look and decide for yourselves.

It is like always: it depends on what your needs and your way of travels are.

I for myself would never buy wheeled luggage. What for? The one hour at the airport? Nah. Appart from this, there are usually little to no situation, where wheels would be useful.

Ask yourself 'How do I travel?'. 'Do I need a backpack to carry or a suitcase to pull?' Like dmcohen points out: hybrid things often tend to have flaws from boths sides and only limited added value. With a hybrid pack, I'd say it's not only additional weight, but also less comfort (settings wise) while carrying.
Now, when did you pull your pack for some hours the last time? Probably never. Usually it's rather an inconvenience to carry the the 10 minutes (instead of pulling it), than a problem. On the other hand, if you have to carry your uncomfortable backpack for some kilometers - it's going to be REALLY painfull.

Hope it helps.
