Anyone ever use any of this stuff??? Some of it sounds great. We are registered for our wedding on Campmor.com(love it) to get all our stuff for our RTW, and we were wondering if it is as good as advertised.

Thinking about:

Underwear
T-shirts
Pants
etc...

It is every bit as as good as advertised, though the "anti-mosquito" claims on one of their product lines are a little optimistic. Also, their synthetic, wicking shirts work better for some people and not for others (corpulent me, for example).

I love their stuff, especially the underwear. If you search around a bit you can find some older posts on that exact subject.

I have tried Patagonia's version.

Thesedays, I use all cotton colored underwear from Hanes for travel.
Anything but white (which doesn't stay white on the road).

Excellent products and I even have a few of their Bug-Off products which do work fairly well. Quality is very good except for one pair of zip off pants. I wore the shorts without the pants for the first week and they faded at very different rates. Now they look silly together.

Briefs are good and dry amazingly quick, but I think Patagonia makes better boxers.

MountainPete, I'm curious, did you wash the shorts separately from the legs, or did the shorts fade just from wearing them? I always make sure to wash the legs with the shorts, even if I don't wear them, because I'm afraid of just the problem you describe.

Incidentally, I like the Buzz-Off zip-off pants because they have a zipper pocket inside the normal front pocket, whereas the non Buzz-Off version have a zippered cargo pocket on the thigh. I like the security of having the zipper inside the normal pocket.

That "fading at different rates" problem happens with all brands of nylon, zip-off pants.

No, no. You read it exactly right. Static is an old, old man, and sometimes it's hard to find a bathroom while on the road.

Yeah, I'll second this. I've probably gone through a couple dozen different brands of zip-off pants over the last few years, and they all end up looking the same: duo tone.

Two pairs of Ex Officio underwear is all you should need for most trips. I'm in Europe right now and I'm doing the wear one/wash one. If you wash one pair at night (I do it in the sink), it will be perfectly dry in the morning, even if you don't hang 'em up on a clothesline.

Just as a testament to how wonderful they are, I forgot to wash my underwear last night, so I washed the dirty pair right before I showered this morning. I wrung the underwear out right before my shower, and 10 minutes later I put them on. Granted, they were still a bit moist, but the discomfort only lasted 15-20 minutes until my body heat warmed the underwear up sufficiently.

The ex officio underwear is far and the away the best item I decided to pack.

Agree with the above . . . but both my husband and I hate their DryFlyLite shirts. They get stinky really quickly. Don't buy them.

Love their stuff, but the fit doesnt favor fit people, particularly shirts, The chest area is very large for a given product size...or the sleeves are too short.

I'm in pretty good shape. The chest area on a medium is enormous for me, but the sleeves and neck fit perfectly. If I switch to a small, the chest area is good, but the sleeves are too short and the neck too small. I don't have that problem with other brands.

Yep, Ex Officio is good quality but not the best fitting brand in the world - unless you're really into oversized safari shirts and MC Hammer parachute pants.

The North Face makes similar clothing that's just as good (if not better) and looks like it was designed in this century.

Yeah...now I know why I felt so weird the last time I tried on a pair of Ex officio pants. I ended up getting a pair of North Face pants (for quite a bit less). Unlike the Ex Officios I tried, I could actually wear the TNF pants outside of the backcountry...
