Hi Everyone,

We're going to be doing more work on the BootsnAll Travel Gear Store ( http://gear.bootsnall.com ) very soon, and I'd love to get some feedback on what features and improvements you'd like to see take place.

What would also be very valuable is to know what you like about it so we don't go and change something that's good or useful.

Basically, what rocks and what sucks about Travel Gear Store?

Just maybe, some of you didn't even know there was a BootsnAll gear store? If that's the case, let me know about that too.

Thanks - we really appreciate your feedback here at BootsnAll and want to produce web sites that are useful, and user friendly. Seriously.

If there was one thing that I could think of...

It would be to give a clear cut "Doo-Hickeys" area.

People love whirlygigs and geegaws and flibbertigibbets

Also. It should snap more. With maybe a "Gear of the Day" picture thing. The gear is fine though....ANd I ain't even in the market for gear.

We're working on a better category structure for sure. And a "Travel Gadgets" catagory would probably be good.


Yeah, the visuals are seriously lacking. And the plans include improving that significantly.

The "gear of the day" will kind of be there too. It's probably going to be "deals of the day" and feature the better deals out there.

Here's an update on a couple new features we've recently added:

1. Killer Gear Deals category added. Items that are 40% off or more.
2. New Products category added. This is where new stuff will show up, as we add new things to the store.

We've still got some other things planned and I'll keep you posted with info about it. If anyone has suggestions or feedback, we'd love to hear it.

I think it would be good to have a sort feature of Price (sort by ascending/descending price).

Also, is there any way to "Show" and "Sort by" boxes in the background somehow...meaning, say I have a page open with gear. I mouse over the "Browse Categories" on the left...it triggers the side menu to pop up. But some of the menu items (wording) is covered up by the Show and Sort by boxes.

I know it's not a huge sport now, but how about Kiteboarding gear? I see kites, but no boards specifically for kiteboarding.

Rash Guards should probably be under "Water Sports" rather than "Gear"

Currently store appears to be down...

I would like to see a gear review section, in addition to the store... one that covers any and all gear, not exclusively that which the store sells.

The idea of adding your own product to review is a great one, even if it's not in the store. It's a bit more complex, but the idea is great.

We're going to be adding more gear (and hopefully kiteboarding stuff too) as soon as we sort out a couple issues on the site. Until then, we just want to not take a chance to compound the mess we have.

The sorting functions should be easy to add. I'll put that on the list of stuff to work on.

Hi Guys -

Just wanted to give a quick update to let you know what's been happening.

First off, we've got a completely updated design.

Here's some other new features:
- Sort by price and discount
- Narrow by brand and price range
- Killer deal of the week

There's still more to come too! I can't tip the hat yet, but keep watching if you're interested and I'll post updates here and on Travel Gear Blog.
