Anyone have experience with plug adaptors that claim to fit "outlets in commonly travelled countries"?

Anyone know of any countries that these things do not work in? I've come across one that's actually only about $20, so I'm wondering if it's really that great. My other option was to bring a solar charger, but that's bulky.

I plan on going just about everywhere, really. No set plan, but almost everywhere is an option. I don't want to buy this thing and then be stuck with it not working in a lot of places.

I'm really only bringing a cell phone (doubles as mp3 player) and AA/AAA battery charger. Dual voltage. But I'd like to be able to charge them for at least most of the trip.

I've got separate UK and Euro converters. They don't take up a lot of space but I know that they work. I think that I will be set for a lot of the world. What I don't have I will be able to pick up cheaply on the way.

If I were you I don't think that I would worry about this too much.

Since your cell phone is probably dual-voltage (double check) and your battery charger definitely IS dual-voltage, all you need is a set of plug adaptors.

You can always find these at the airport when you land on a new continent. So you don't NEED to buy them now, but it's handy.

$20 actually sounds a bit expensive.

I've seen them anywhere between $10-20. (My work sells them for $15.) Go for quality, since you'll be relying on it, and MAKE SURE that it is NOT a voltage adaptor. Because they are big and heavy and (probably) unnecessary for you.

Just make sure it works! I got a power converter thing from my brother and it totally didn't work. It sucked b/c I had to ask people for converters, which they were often using so I had to conserve my ipod usage, which is how I can sleep on long flights.
